Dan McKenzie founded The McKenzie Law Firm in 2013, after 10 years as a trial lawyer. Although helping people who had been misled, defrauded, or injured recover compensation was important and fulfilling, Dan found himself wanting to help people identify and resolve problems before they reached the point of needing court intervention. That desire led him to specialize in estate planning ever since, as well as estate administration and small-business counsel.

Dan is a product of the Big Ten, having earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan (1997, with high honors) and his Juris Doctor from Northwestern University School of Law (2003). In addition to Colorado, he is licensed to practice law in Illinois.

Dan is a Colorado native and is happy to be raising four of his own kids here. As a parent, he emphasizes the need for other parents of dependent children to have a proper estate plan.
